Welcome to HopeHouse “Sawatdi”
More than 15 years ago, the Swiss Claude Delachaux created the private association "Sawatdi" to support deprived families in the Northeast of Thailand. In 2006, the private association was transformed into the Swiss Foundation HopeHouse "Sawatdi”. It supports young people in the poor rural Thai province of Nongkhai.
Education for all
80 percent of the children going to school worldwide never get beyond elementary school. This is a sad fact, despite all the positive statistics! Six years of primary or even nine years of primary and basic secondary education do not really provide a solid base for a successful professional life. Although basic education in Thailand is mandatory and works pretty well, not all the children from poor families benefit from free schooling at secondary and high school level, simply because their families cannot afford the cost involved. The more remote the village, the higher the cost for transport, meals, lodging, and so on. For these adolescents insufficient or lacking education often results in a desolate life as a day labourer or worse…
Where your donation goes
Currently HopeHouse Foundation focuses its efforts on five schools in the deprived Northeast of Thailand, e.g. "Nadeepittayakhom School", a rural school with various educational levels from secondary I and II to senior high school. Depending on the financial situation of the family, HopeHouse is bearing the costs for education material, special courses, meals, transport, and uniforms. The Foundation also supports some highly gifted young people enabling them to study at university. Right now, we are supporting a total of 65 students and hope to continuously increase the number in the future.
